Gokarakayaย egg – Cluster beans – ย A simple, tasty side dish made with cluster beans, spices, and eggs. In the instant pot, it takes less than 15 minutes. These are known by different regional names in India, such as Gavar, guar, gorachikudu, chavalikayi, and guara.ย Cluster beans with eggs
It has a low GI index with high fiber, low in calories, and loaded with calcium, iron, vitamin k, and folic acid.
INGREDIENTS for making gokarkaya egg
- Cluster beans
- Onion – chopped
- Curry leaves
- Green chili – finely chopped
- Ginger garlic paste
- Coriander powder
- Salt
- Eggs
How to make gokarkaya egg
1. Clean and chop the cluster beans in an inch size.
2. On SAUTE mode heat the oil and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds wait until they splutter.
3. Add the green chili, onion, curry leaves, ginger-garlic paste, saute for a few seconds. Then add cluster beans, turmeric, salt, and mix well. Turn off saute mode.
Ginger garlic paste will stick at bottom of liner which leads to burnt bottom, deglaze the bottom with a tbsp of water if needed.
4. Whisk eggs in a bowl and add them on top of cluster beans. Don’t mix them. Then add coriander powder on top.
Don’t mix it, for avoiding burnt bottom.
5. Place a trivet and keep a rice bowl on the trivet. Close the lid and set the instant pot on MANUAL or PRESSURE COOK for 8 min.
6. When count down is done, quick release and remove the pot which is on top.
7. Mix beans and egg together.

- Oil - 2 tbsp
- Onion โ Medium-sized or 1 cup
- Curry leaves - 5
- Green chili โ 10 add less for mild spicy, finely chopped
- Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
- Coriander powder - 1 tbsp
- Salt
- Eggs - 4
Instructions
HOW TO MAKE CLUSTER BEANS WITH EGGS:
